About Pittsburgh Chimney Repair
Chimney inspection, cleaning and masonry repair across the Pittsburgh region
What we are
A small chimney company working Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, Butler and Beaver counties. Inspection, sweeping, caps, flashing and crown work — masonry chimneys and factory-built systems both.
We stay inside that footprint on purpose. Chimney diagnosis leans heavily on knowing the building stock: what decade a house is from, what it was originally heated with, and what has usually been done to it since. That knowledge does not travel. A crew that works six counties every week reads a chimney faster and more accurately than one that works twenty.
How we quote
Nothing gets priced over the phone except a straightforward sweep or inspection. Everything else starts with someone going up, taking photographs, and writing down what is actually there.
You get the photographs whether or not you use us, findings split into what needs doing now and what does not, and a fixed written price. If something is found once work has started, work stops and you get a call before anything else happens. There is no version of this where you get a bill with a line on it you had not agreed to.
What we will tell you not to buy
A significant share of our inspections end with 'sweep it, cap it, see you next year.' That is a normal result for a chimney in reasonable condition and we say so rather than finding something.
We will also actively talk you out of a few things. A crown coat over a crown that has already broken up, because it postpones a recast rather than replacing one. A film-forming sealer on old brick, because it traps moisture inside the masonry and accelerates exactly the damage it is sold to prevent. Hard Portland mortar on pre-1930 soft brick, for the same reason. And flashing work on a chimney that leaks only during winter thaws, because that is an ice dam and new metal will not fix it.
None of that is generosity. It is that this is a repeat-business trade in a region where people stay in their houses, and a company that sells one unnecessary rebuild loses fifteen years of annual sweeps.
Credentials
Fully insured — general liability and workers' compensation, certificates available on request.
Registered as a Home Improvement Contractor with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, as required for residential work in this state.
What we do not do
Full structural rebuilds below the roofline, foundation and underpinning work, gas appliance installation and dryer vents. When a job needs one of those we say so and point you somewhere sensible. Taking work we do not do well is how people end up paying twice.

How a job actually runs
You describe the problem
A phone call or the form. Age of the house, what you burn, what you're seeing. Half the time we can narrow it down before anyone drives out.
We inspect and photograph
Roof and firebox, and a camera down the flue when the flue is the question. About an hour for a standard single-flue chimney.
You get findings and a price
Written, itemised, with photographs attached, and a plain sentence about what happens if you do nothing. Some chimneys can wait a year. We will say so.
The work gets done
Drop cloths, boot covers, and the site swept before we leave. You get after photographs of the same angles as the before ones.
Not sure what's wrong with your chimney?
Most people call us because of a smell, a stain on the ceiling, or a home inspector's note they don't understand. Tell us what you're seeing and we'll tell you what it usually means — before anyone books anything.
